Meet Asher in IN - Adorable & Cuddly Ball of Fluff!

Young Asher is the sweetest boy with an adoringly unique head shape due to his cute underbite! This young boy is quite the social butterfly - he has yet to meet anyone he does not immediately love, and he is very generous with his kisses! When on leash or out on public, Asher shows off his perfect manners, gently accepting love from everyone. At home, he also wants all the lovings, but can get overexcited at times and needs to be reminded that he’s a big boy who should sit for pets. Getting brushed, receiving treats, and going for walks are high on his list of favorites! After a good walk (he’s excellent on leash, by the way), Asher transforms into a big cuddly bear for naptime. Seriously, how can one resist such a snuggly ball of fluff?! He is crate trained and knows basic commands, but true to his Pyrenees nature, only follows them when he feels like it. He has medium-high energy and is an average barker. This confident fella has no fears and sees the world revolving around him - he just loves living! He’d appreciate a 6-foot fenced yard that he can patrol, guard, and play in - bonus points if he can have a kiddie pool in the warmer months, as they are SO MUCH FUN! This big boy would do well as an only dog, or with a single female dog around his size. Cats would be cool too, as he currently lives with four and enjoys their company. He can be protective of food when around other dogs, so he’s happy to have his own space when the food is out. This lovely boy will thrive in a moderately active home with guardian breed experience, where he is loved and cherished as an essential part of the family.  NGPR Pooch Profile Name: Asher in IN Age: 2 yrs 4 mos old as of February 2025 Color: White Dew Claws: Yes, single on one leg, double on the other Estimated Adult Weight: 90 lbs Current Location: NGPR approved foster in South Bend, IN Medical: Neutered, dewormed, negative for heartworm, up-to-date on vaccinations and currently on flea, tick and heartworm preventative. National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) has been rescuing and adopting out Great Pyrenees since 2006. Our relationship doesn’t end with adoption, as we continue to support adopters throughout the lifetime of their dog. Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority.
