Humane Society of Washington County, TN

The Appalachian Highlands Humane Society promotes Spay/Neuter. We pull animals from our local animal shelter and place them in foster care, give them any medical attention they need, spay/neuter prior to adoptions. We also, review craigslist on a daily basis and contact individuals listing "free" puppies, dogs, cats and kittens in an effort to get them to surrender to us and attempt to educate these individuals about spay/neuter and the danger of listing free animals. Along with our foster animals, we take animals currently residing in our local shelter to adoption events.

Meet Mick

Meet Mick, the scruffiest little love! He's a 2-year-old terrier/dachshund mix. He weighs in at only 14 pounds, so he is the perfect small size! Aside from being obviously adorable, Mick is quite the charmer! Everyone he meets just melts for him. Mick is 2 years old, has been neutered, and is housetrained! He's spunky and enjoys playing, but he isn't a dog that requires constant exercise. This would be the PERFECT small home/apartment companion. To learn more about Mick or to set up a meeting, please email [email protected] and apply online at ahhumanesociety.org.

Adoption Process
$50.00 for cats and kittens, dogs range from $150.00 to $275.00. We have adoption applications and contracts for potential adopters to complete. Vet references are checked and home visits on some animals are required.
