"Yogi Bear" is a good-natured friendly boy who loves everyone he meets! We are not exactly sure what he is mixed with but whatever it is, he is a gorgeous fellow who turns heads wherever he goes. This super nice young boy has the sweetest temperament and the most beautiful unique coloring and markings and the most striking golden brown eyes. He is super friendly, big and sweet - he does great with other dogs, and likes children as well. Yogi was found in Tennessee on someone’s property, where he waited and waited for his person to come back. The family who’s property he was on said they believed he was dumped, as he just hung around waiting. He never tried to leave, even though he was unfenced. They did everything they could to find an owner but one was never found. They did say he was wonderful with their other dogs and great with their kids. We believe he is house trained. He is currently in boarding and keeps his large kennel area very clean - he waits to be let outdoors. Yogi did the same thing at the shelter when he went through stray hold there. He waited to be let outside to go. He is not an escape artist and walks pretty well on leash. He does seem to get excited by cats and will try and chase them when they are outdoors so a cat-free home is recommended. Yogi comes right to you when you call him and likes to hang around his people. He is such a big handsome fellow, and he will do fine as an only dog or great with a canine playmate as well. Yogi will make a great addition to some lucky family! Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority. We may consider fostering for some of our dogs who are in boarding. Please visit Fostering FAQfor an application and information about our fostering program.
