Cumberland County Animal Shelter

Cumberland County Animal Shelter houses approximately 2000 animals every year. They have a small staff of a shelter Director and two full-time employees with the rest of the staff made up of part-timers who come and go. As a private, retired citizen, The shelter director has authorized me to go into the shelter five days a week to photograph animals to post at online adoption sites. I add, edit and then delete animals when they have been adopted or are no longer available. Because they do not have a large enough staff to handle this type of work, I am able to do it for the shelter, mostly from my home, as a free service.

Meet PEEPS

PEEPS is listed as a one year-old, 41 pound female bulldog mix. She has blue brindle coloring with white markings and a gentle and sweet face. She arrived at the shelter mid March 2025 and is housed in one of the large dog crates in the overflow section of the hallway of their Intake facility. Staff does get her out to stretch her legs a couple of times a day. They also make sure to give all of the dogs treats that are thankfully donated by the public and which the dogs greatly appreciate. PEEPS has not yet been spayed to their knowledge. That must be done before she can go home with you as your own. Serious adopters are encouraged to CALL the shelter to schedule an adoption appointment. Staff can explain the adoption procedures and fees when you call. The shelter does require EXACT change in the form of cash or a check. The shelter is UNABLE to accept credit or debit. So, please go prepared!

Adoption Process
Adoption contract, Adoption fee of $50 per cat and $80 per dog set by county commission and subject to change, drivers license and cash or check only. The adoption fees currently cover most, but not all, of the spay/neuter cost incurred by the county.
