Meet Alfie

Attention: This is a courtesy posting only! This pet is NOT available through Mountain Pet Rescue.  Please do NOT contact MPR for information about the pet or apply to adopt this pet on the MPR website.  Contact Addie in Black Mountain, 530-263-9039 for more information or to adopt the pet.Alfie came to my mother about 2 years ago from a local rescue. Alfie is about 3 years old and weighs about 30 lbs. He is a sweet, affectionate and energetic little guy. He loves toys and romping in the yard, loves walks and car rides, and gets along with every dog he has met. He has a big smile and always loves to be near his person.Alfie has anxiety, which is managed with medication. He is neutered and up-to-date on vaccines and preventatives. He has a big bark which he uses often, but can be redirected with treats. Alfie has had one resource guarding bite about a year ago, but that has not repeated. What has repeated is a jumping and mouthing behavior (mainly pulling on clothes) that to me and my roommates has never caused damage, but to my mother (who is a senior with thin skin and blood thinners) has. We have consulted with a behaviorist and put a training plan in place, but my mother has cognitive decline and was not able to work with him on this training. We love Alfie and believe he could thrive in the right home, but he is not a match for a senior citizen or a home with children. Alfie is house-trained, loving, eager to pay and would fit in with just about any dog pack. In stressful situations with new people, he becomes more relaxed when he meets a fellow pup friend. We think he would be happiest with dog companions. He would need the right person who could work with him on training. Please consider giving Alfie a second chance. He will be staying with me as we work on placement, and we would love to have you come meet him.Contact me today at Addie in Black Mountain, 530-263-9039, to learn more about sweet Alfie!
