Her daughter was to pick him up from the shelter but did not. When the owner got out of jail and failed to reclaim Jason at the shelter, he was turned over to AADR to help him find a home. Jason is a sweet boy! He loves to be loved on, but then he is on his way to play and do other doggie things. He’s an active boy, so please, don’t expect him to be a couch potato. Jason wants to play with other dogs, play with you, and play in the yard. So, you must be able to keep up with him during the day and willing to be a couch potato with him at night. Don’t let his all-black coloring fool you... Jason is a Dachshund all the way. Solid black is the rarest of colors for Dachshunds. A solid black coat is achieved when both parents have the same rare recessive gene. If you adopt this boy, you will have to educate all the people you meet about why he’s all black, and you’ll be the envy of all your friends. Our must-haves for sweet Jason include: A fenced yard Another young, small dog to play with because he does love to play Someone who is home a lot, working from home, or recently retired and active No apartments, high-rises, or condos Keep in mind this boy is going to be very active for several years to come. Jason needs an active family and a doggie playmate who is able to keep up with him now and in the future.  Please email his foster mom if you have any further questions. If not, complete our online adoption application. Jason will be ready to go to his new home in a couple of weeks. ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten. If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.  There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered.  We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures. To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3. Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form. Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend.  We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest.  We just can't get them from one coast to the other.  Please look for dogs on your coast.

Adoption Process
Our adoption process is documented on our website at: http://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/info/adoption We do check all references including vet and a home visit is conducted for each animal adoption unless the adopter has previously adopted and there have been no changes or large lapse of time.
