Meet MILES (Neutered!)

MILES is a super friendly and gentle male Lab mix dog. He arrived at the shelter in early 2023 along with his three other brothers who look identical to him, except for differences in their white markings. All four are mostly black with a little bit of white for contrast. All four also have docked tails which were already present when they arrived at the shelter as tiny puppies. Unfortunately, they had to be held for months due to a court hold. A rescue group in Tennessee was interested in them when they were still puppies, but the court hold prevented them from taking them. So, they have grown up at the shelter and are now about one and one half years old. One of the four has been adopted and three remain. MILES has been neutered thanks to a partnership between UT and Cumberland County Animal Shelter. That means he can go home the same day he is adopted. He is gentle and affectionate, but still needs to be trained to walk on a leash. Serious adopters are encouraged to CALL the shelter to schedule an adoption appointment. Staff can explain the adoption procedures and fees when you call. The shelter does require EXACT change in the form of cash or a check. The shelter is UNABLE to accept credit or debit. So, please go prepared! That includes taking a dog collar and leash with you to that appointment in case you do decide to adopt MILES and make his day if not his entire year! Even better, take a dog crate with you in your vehicle. No animal should be allowed to run freely in any vehicle. Especially an animal that you have just adopted! Safety first!

Adoption Process
Adoption contract, Adoption fee of $50 per cat and $80 per dog set by county commission and subject to change, drivers license and cash or check only. The adoption fees currently cover most, but not all, of the spay/neuter cost incurred by the county.
