We were contacted by a shelter in East TN that a Dachshund had been thrown from a car window, thrown out like trash. They ask if we would take her, no hesitation, YES. When we did get her, she was terrified but now she is running around with her tail up and wagging. She just needed to know she could trust us; wouldn’t you be that way if you were thrown from a car? At her age it looks like she has had puppies each time she went into season but no more. Now she wants to be a loving pet. Let us start out her new year by giving her the home she so richly deserves and help her to forget the hell she went through before she came into rescue. She will need some good food and help to gain a couple pounds and now that she is getting a good helping of good food her hip bones no longer protrude. Our must haves for her are: A fenced in yard Someone with patience to help her trust Another young small dog to pal around with Someone that can be home more than not No apartments, high rises or condos due to the possibility of barking If you meet these requirements and want to give Tatum her last loving home please apply. She’s is waiting for her forever after.     ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten. If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.  There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered.  We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures. To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3. Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form. Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend.  We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest.  We just can't get them from one coast to the other.  Please look for dogs on your coast.

Adoption Process
Our adoption process is documented on our website at: http://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/info/adoption We do check all references including vet and a home visit is conducted for each animal adoption unless the adopter has previously adopted and there have been no changes or large lapse of time.
