Almost Home Pet Rescue

We are a foster based, no kill and all volunteer rescue. We are dedicated to saving as many lives as possible from Houston's street and high kill shelters. All of our animals live in foster homes until they are adopted, we can therefore tell you a lot about their personality, likes/ dislikes and any training.

Meet LEOPOLD BUTTERS

Est DOB: 2022 Current weight: approx. 38 pounds I’m thinking that any day now, North Face or Patagonia will reach out to me about being their mascot! I mean really, I’d be perfect…Butters, out and about in nature! I am an active, energetic guy. I’m handsome as all get out and my personality quotient is off the chart! Did I mention that I’m also very humble? Because I am.   I don’t really get the concept of sitting in front of a computer all day. I want to be where the action is. I’m not picky – my friends can be human or canine – but I’d really like to have both! I’ve played with an 85-pound fluffy dog and a 20-pound puppy and found them equally entertaining. And at 38 pounds, I’m the perfect size for a tag-along buddy. They say the camera adds a few pounds and I agree! I’m actually smaller than the camera makes me look. People give me instructions like “down” and I follow them well, so I know you and I could be a great team…because I’m eager to please!  Now I know you’re curious about some of the basics. I personally find these boring, but the humans tell me I have to include them. So here goes! I’m a male, one to two year old Black Mouth Cur mix. I’m heartworm negative, neutered (ouch!), microchipped and current on vaccinations (I didn’t even flinch when they gave me the vaccines because I’m brave like that). I’m housetrained but the humans tell me that all dogs should warn any new family to expect an adjustment. Basically, I’m ready to be your favorite family member.I would love to meet you! Just ask for Butters – aka Mr. Personality. I promise, you’re going to love me! Please consider making this handsome boy a member of your family. As we are a foster based rescue, we do require a completed application to be submitted before we arrange a meet.  This can be found on our website at :  https://almosthomepetrescue.org/apply-now-1  $200 (including tax) adoption fee includes core vaccinations, rabies vaccination, heart worm test (in dogs over 6 months of age), microchip and registration, spay/neuter, wormer and flea and heart worm prevention while the dog is in our care. All breed and size categorizations are estimates.  If transporting out of state, the total adoption cost will be $500. This amount is inclusive of adoption fee, transport fee, health certificate, and taxes.
