Tonya Griffith's Animal Rescue, Inc.

This is a small animal rescue for cats and dogs. I have several foster homes in various areas, and I also post pictures for people who need help finding a home for their pet, which many times has been successful. The pet doesn't have to enter a rescue or shelter and the owner is contacted, so they decide who their pet goes to. If a person can't send me pictures, and they don't live too far away, I will go and videotape the pet myself to place pictures on the internet. There have been a few pets that haven't been able to find a home through this service, but it depends on what the pet is and who is looking on the internet. When we have space available we take transfers from a local kill animal shelter. We also step in and help people who find themselves with multiple animals and no way to pay to get them fixed. Usually I will get all the females fixed to get their circumstances under control, and in some cases I will also help with donated food when I have extra. If they want to find homes for some of the many pets they have accumulated, then I will place their pictures on the internet for them. We don't euthanize unless a pet is seriously ill.

Meet Reya

Posted on 7/21/21, and pictures were taken on 6/26/21.  Reya was a stray surrender from Hawkins, TX on 6/1/21.  She was good around all of our yard dogs for about 1.5 days.  She is dog selective, and unpredictable around both male and female dogs, but I have her in a dog pen with a male and a female that she gets along with, so I'm not sure what triggers her with certain dogs.  She loves people, has a lot of energy, still jumps on me for attention, and is crate trained.  She is very strong, and pulls on a leash, so would do better with a harness.  Due to her energy level, she would not be good around smaller children.  She would do best as the only dog, or with another dog she is compatible with, and will need a secure fenced yard to make sure she doesn't wander.  She doesn't like medicine given to her orally, but it can be put in can food when needed.  She is heartworm positive, and I have started her on a slow kill treatment with prevention.  She should be negative in a few month.  I'm not sure what breed she is without doing a DNA test, so I'm just listing her as a Terrier mix, since that covers a large number of breeds. D.O.B.:     ? June 2020 Weight:     50.0 - 6/18/21 $90 adoption fee pays for her spay and vaccinations.

Adoption Process
Cat adoption fees are currently $25 to $70, which pays for spay/neuter and vaccinations. Dog adoption fees vary from $25 to $115 depending on how much it cost for spay/neuter and vaccinations. Adoption contracts must be signed upon adoption approval and any pet history information is provided with each adoption.
