Meet Emerald
Hi! My name is Emerald! I am a beautiful 1-2 year old flashy fawn girl that is ready to find my forever home! I am sweet and loving with medium energy. I am house trained, crate trained, and leash trained! I enjoy going on walks and if there are other dogs around, I like to be the boss and in the lead. I love to lay in your lap and enjoy belly rubs. I am stingy with my food so it is important that I am fed separately from other dogs. All food containers, including treats, are removed from common areas to eliminate any resource guarding issues. When it's mealtime for the humans, I am crated out of caution to avoid any issues. I am tolerant of other dogs 85% of the time but am very dog friend selective and do best with submissive dogs that let me be the boss. I sleep in the crate at night and do well in it. My foster mom thinks I would best fit in a home with kids over 7 years old, but there are no kids in my foster home so a proper meet and greet is needed. It's also imperative that my boundaries are respected by dogs and humans while I learn that nothing will be taken from me and I am loved and cared for! I will go get a toy to play with but lose interest pretty quickly. If there is a TV nearby, it holds my interest longer and I will sit and watch it and sometimes bark and growl at it depending on what I'm watching! If you are looking for a smaller, sweet girl, look no further! Contact the rescue today and give them my name because I am waiting to meet you! Emerald was named as a Happy Birthday to Lisa who has devoted many years transporting boxers to safer and more loving homes. If you're interested in fostering a dog, please fill out the Foster Application https://austinboxerrescue.com/ways-to-help/foster/ If you're interested in adopting a dog, please fill out the Adoption Application http://austinboxerrescue.com/adoption-application/Our volunteers will work with you to find the best dog for your home.
Adoption Process
The Process to adopt a dog through Austin Boxer Rescue is as follows:
Fill out an Online Adoption Application below.
Your application will be reviewed and sent to a volunteer in your area. The volunteer will contact you to schedule a home visit within one week. Normally, a volunteer would come to your house for a home visit, but until further notice, visits are being done virtually.
After your home visit is complete and you are approved you can begin meeting dogs. The Adoption Coordinator will assist you in this process.
Please note: The application process begins immediately once an application is submitted and approvals tend to occur quickly. Please do not submit an application unless you are ready to take home a dog. ABR does not have the space or capability to hold dogs, therefore, dogs are adopted out on a first-come-first-serve basis. If you are not able to proceed with a home visit when contacted by an ABR volunteer then your application will be filed away. We will ask you to resubmit your application if you wish to adopt later date.
Every dog adopted will have the following:
Current on vaccinations and dewormed
Spayed or neutered
Will be micro chipped
Will be treated for heartworms and/or on heartworm prevention
Any additional medical problems will be treated and paid for by the rescue. (Once a dog has been adopted any new medical problems that arise are the responsibility of the new owner)
