SRGDRR Inc aka Save Rocky the Great Dane Rescue and Rehab

SRGDRR is a 100% volunteer organization. Like all humane groups, SRGDRR is in the unique position of helping both humans and pets. In our case, the pets are Great Danes and Great Dane Mixes, and the people are those who have or want the companionship of the breed or, often, just dogs in general. SRGDRR helps people to:Determine the right breed of dog for their lifestyle.Find healthy and companionable dogs that fit their circumstances.Find loving replacement homes for Danes they can no longer keep.Become knowledgeable about the care and training of their Great Danes.Resolve their Danes physical/behavioral problem.Overcome the grief at the loss of their loved pet.Stretch their tax dollar by assuming the Dane burden from public shelters.SRGDRR helps Danes:By providing for the rescue and care of those who have been abandoned, neglected, and/or abused by their previous owners.We spay/neuter and provide medical treatment as necessary to return the Dane back to good health.We also supply training/socialization to ensure their adaptability to new, good homes.We work to place rescue Danes to people who provide secure, loving, and healthy homes.SRGDRR spends an average of $300 per dog that enters our rescue. In order for us to continue providing the best care and vetting for these babies, we need donations and adoptions. Thank you all so very much.

LOCATION: Schaumburg, ILDOB: 05/25/2022Meet King, a 2.5-year-old merle Great Dane with a heart as big as his paws. This gentle giant is looking for an experienced foster home where he can continue to build his confidence and shine.King is a fantastic boy who needs a little help with minor resource guarding, but he stops if you put him in a sit. He also flinches and is head shy, so he could use some overall confidence-building. Despite these quirks, King may be the most velcro Dane you'll ever meet. His low confidence and natural Dane tendencies make him incredibly attached to his humans.In his current home, King has made huge strides. He now goes and lays in his crate without fuss, both for bedtime and when you leave the house. However, in a new home, there may be some adjustment, so no apartments or duplex houses in case he does a little barking before he settles. King is house trained and dog friendly! He lives with a bunch of Danes and enjoys their company. We would love for his new home to have a large playmate. He's also good with cats.We're looking for a home with no children. Though King likes children and will probably be fine with them in the future, we want all the focus to be on him for now. King has so many endearing qualities. He's sweet, loves to lay in bed, and enjoys meeting new people. His beautiful brown soulful eyes will melt your heart.If you're ready to welcome a loving and loyal companion into your home, King is waiting for you.
