Meet Apollo! A sweet and playful one-year-old Chihuahua/Dachshund mix from Temecula, CA, whose heart is as big as his love for plush squeaky toys and surprise treasure stashes. Tricolor and tiny at just 13 pounds, Apollo may be small in size, but he’s packed with personality—from the tip of his twitchy nose to the wag of his excited tail! He’s a shy little guy when first meeting new people, but once he warms up, he becomes a goofy, affectionate companion who’s happiest when surrounded by canine pals. In fact, playing chase with other dogs is one of his all-time favorite games! He’s currently thriving in foster care, snuggling with his furry housemates, chewing on his favorite bones, and stashing toys like a pint-sized pirate under the living room table. Apollo’s morning routine is nothing short of adorable—he loves to roll, wiggle, and burrow into soft bedding with pure joy, especially when it’s time to start a new day with his favorite humans. He’s still learning the ropes of potty training and leash walking, but this clever pup is making great progress. Crate time? He handles it like a champ, settling down for naps after a few squeaky protest barks. While Apollo’s past left him a bit wary of sudden movements, he's blossoming with patient, loving care. He does best when approached gently and given time to build trust. Because of his timid nature, he’d be most comfortable in a home without young children and with a fenced yard where he can safely explore. He’s a cuddle bug in the making, especially once he knows he’s safe—and steak, salmon, or chicken tend to speed up the bonding process!
