VT Dog Rescue

VT Dog Rescue is a non-profit canine rescue focused on saving the Underdog. The sweet dogs who are passed over day after day simply because they are not perfect. Who is an underdog?- older dogs who are wise and love to snuggle- tri-pawed dogs who are happily enjoying life with 3 legs- shy dogs who need a little extra love to help them build confidence - dogs who may limp or have a physical limitation that humans see as a flaw, but they accept with dignity - dogs who are missing an eye and have adapted to navigate their world The Underdogs have, against all odds, retained their ability to be loyal and trusting companions who love us unconditionally. We believe the Underdogs, just like other shelter dogs, deserve to be rescued and placed in loving, responsible homes where they can shine.

Meet Sable

Meet the sister trio!  These pups arrived last Saturday and are proving to be super sweet! They have been acclimating well to their foster homes in Vermont and all have amazing foster families who have been working with them to get them ready for their new homes. A little timid to start, these girls are now coming out of their shells and their personalities are starting to shine through.   All of the pups like to play with other dogs. They are interested in the cats in their foster homes, but not aggressive and we feel that with boundaries and guidance from their new owners, they can live peacefully with a feline sibling.   Leash walking is a work in progress, and all of the pups are progressing well with house-training and crate-training. Gentle with children and loving towards all humans, we think these girls could fit in just about any kind of loving home. Being with another canine friend does help their confidence, so another dog in the family or a walking buddy would be beneficial. They are highly food motivated which will help make training easier!   These girls were found, along with their siblings (10 total), abandoned under a shed. A good citizen contacted the local rescue in Mississippi and they were all rescued. Thought to be hound/bulldog mixes, these pups are fairly petite and we don't expect them to be very large dogs. Our best guess is around 40 - 45 lbs full grown.
