Meet Sunny

Meet Sunny! A spirited three-year-old French Bulldog from Prospect Heights, IL, whose essence is a lovable mix of sass, sweetness, and endless snuggles, all wrapped in a velvety cream coat. Sunny is a bright spark of joy who lives for belly rubs, tug toys, and a good game of fetch in the yard! She’s a smart cookie—literally and figuratively—who mastered “sit,” “stay,” “come,” “no bark,” “out,” and “bed” during an intensive, month-long training program with a canine behavioral therapist. Her favorite pastime? Learning tricks in exchange for treats (food is her love language). Sunny is crate trained, house-trained, and more than happy to nap the day away when left alone for a bit—just give her a cozy bed and she's set. This girl is full of personality: sensitive, spunky, and confident with a sprinkle of goofy charm! She loves wholeheartedly, offering cuddles with abandon and thinking every lap is meant for her. She gets along well with other dogs and adores meeting new canine friends. While her compatibility with cats is still a mystery, she’s more than happy being the center of attention in a dog-savvy home. Now, let’s talk quirks—because every great dog has them. Sunny is a resource guarder when it comes to food and high-value treats, so she needs a family that respects her need for space during mealtimes. In the past, she has nipped when she believed her food was at risk, and there have been incidents where she bit both adults and a toddler in situations where she felt her food or food space was threatened. These were not aggressive attacks, but rather reactive warnings rooted in fear and anxiety around food. Sunny has made tremendous progress on this behavior with professional guidance, and with continued positive reinforcement, she’s ready to keep growing and learning. Because of this sensitivity, Sunny isn’t suitable for a home with small children, but she'd thrive with older kids or adults who can respect her food boundaries and appreciate her spirited, loving nature. With her playful energy, sensitive heart, and infectious joy, Sunny is looking for a new loving home where she can shine—preferably with a fenced yard to run in, lots of toys to chew on, and humans who understand that a little spunk just makes life more fun. Could your heart and home be the perfect place for Sunny to share her snuggles and sass? Reach out to [email protected] to meet this one-of-a-kind Frenchie!
