Meet Jenga - At shelter
JENGA was neutered on Thursday, and we were relieved to find that he was heartworm-free, even though he is positive for tick-borne diseases. This guy is six years old, and weighs 75 pounds. We think he is an Anatolian Shepherd mix, due to his large size and his aloof personality. His life up until now has been that of an outdoor dog allowed to roam, which is a perfect life or an Anatolian Shepherd. This beautiful dog is in the care of the shelter because his human mother passed away just a couple weeks ago. In addition to grieving for her, he grieves for the lifestyle left behind. Dogs that have not been confined or in the house often have a difficult time at the shelter. The folks who were charged with bringing him to us were kind neighbors, who told us that they weren’t sure if he was good with other dogs or cats, but he was wonderful with small children. We hope to give him time to heal from his surgery, and then continue assessing personality. Wouldn’t it be lovely if he could get out and get into a home similar to the one where he left, where he has a huge yard, and is not required to be in the house 24 hours a day? If you love big dogs and understand Shepherd mixes, he might be the perfect match for you! Apply to adopt and we will help set up a meeting. www.friendsofcampbellcounty.org. PLEASE NOTE: This pet has been posted by Friends of Campbell County Animal Control, Rustburg, VA. For questions about the pet, please email us at [email protected]. All adoptions begin with an application, found under the "Animals" tab on our website, friendsofcampbellcounty.org. *Unaltered babies under the age of six months can be adopted only to residents of Campbell County, the City of Lynchburg, and counties touching Campbell County. *Unaltered adult pets six months or older will need to be sterilized before they can be adopted outside our local area of Campbell County, the City of Lynchburg, or counties touching Campbell. *We do not promote dog adoptions to homes where an invisible fence is the fencing of choice. *We do not permit cats or kittens to be declawed following adoption.
Adoption Process
Begin with an application to adopt. Other pets in household must be spay/neutered, current with rabies vaccines, dogs need to be current with HW testing and heartguard. Fees range between $75 and $300. We follow up on spays/neuters for pets under six months, and the fees include spay/neuter. Contract requires it. Adults are adopted out already spayed/neutered. Pets must be returned to FOAC if adoption ends.
