Meet River
River is a wonderful, loyal, and sweet guy! He came to his foster through no fault of his own and thanks to his dedicated foster's love and patience, his confidence has grown immensely, and he still has room to grow. River approaches new situations with tentative interest. He can be anxious around new people and in new environments but once warmed up, River loves people (including children) and other dogs. In fact, River must have another dog in the house as he follows the lead of his current foster brother and has learned so much from him! River's daily medication helps calm him down, and this is something that his forever person will need to continue for River's benefit and comfort.River is two-years old and 75 fluffy, soft, loveable pounds. He and his foster have been working on walking on leash as River prefers to run around the yard. For this reason, River's forever home must have a fenced-in yard, and it will be important to continue the leash training and exposure to new situations. This is the best way to build River's confidence and to teach him that the wide world is a fun place to explore! River is a masterpiece in the making! He needs a forever person or family who will be willing to love him enough to finish this four-legged work of art.PAW places animals in the Washington, DC/Baltimore metropolitan area only.
