The Animal Protection Society of Durham (APS) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that has been helping animals in our community since 1970, and has managed the Durham County Animal Shelter since 1990. APS relies on donations from caring individuals and corporations to feed, shelter and provide medical attention for the nearly 5,000 stray, surrendered, abandoned, abused and neglected animals we care for each year.Federal Identification Number: 56-1047100

Meet Morning Mist

Need a project? Want a dog you could really make a difference for? Here I am! I'm a delicate, worried girl who's been through a lot. I'm pretty skittish and hand-shy, quick to flinch away. Even toys make me nervous. I do like gentle affection around my chin and neck--oh, and TREATS! I'll need gentle people who go very slow with me. I'll also need confidence building, basic training, and a healthy diet. I hope you'll consider taking me home! Kids: 10+, very nervous and fearful, delicate, appeasing Dogs: Friendly sniffing, tolerant, avoids rude behavior. Prefers a gentle, polite dog

Adoption Process
Cats: $95 Dogs: $125-$175 Requirements: Government issues ID 18 and older Own home OR live in a place where pets are allowed No past animal about charges Cannot be under the influence when adopting Cannot be adopting the animal as a gift
