Meet Handsome

Handsome is a sweet, chill little man (about 16 pounds) who loves to hang out with his human and go for walks. He'll sleep with you at night and doze on your lap while you work or watch TV. He's a chihuahua mix, but he's not the chihuahua you think of when you hear the breed. :) He does bark at strangers at first, and at interesting things out the window, but otherwise he's a quiet little guy. He great with kids, and he's in a foster home with cats and does great with them, too, apart from being scared of them at first; he enjoys frolicking around the house with them once they're comfortable. He does not like to be alone or to be crated; he loves to be with his people and really loves being outside, so if you have a fenced yard, he will be overjoyed! He was not house trained before coming into our care, but he learned it in lightning speed; we're just making sure to take him out at consistent intervals. *Handsome's adoption fee is $250.

Adoption Process
We have an extensive application process where veterinary references are checked (we require all current and past animals have been altered and that the client shows a history of good vet care) and we has a number of questions targeted at encouraging the adopting family to really consider if they are ready financially and emotionally to support an animal life long. We also try to match the right animal with the right home with consideration to the adopters previous animal experience, energy level, and general personality. After reviewing and approving and applicant (on paper), we meet with them and all members of their house hold including other resident dogs. We offer one week trials to ensure this decision is in the best interest of both human and animal. If all parties are confident upon meeting, then we have a contract which also states that if any anytime they are unable to keep the animal, that they will return in to our organization. Adoption fees vary from $100-275 based on age, size, and breed, with $175 as an average.
