Bella is a super sweet, cuddly aussiedoodle who will fill your life with entertainment and love! She was born with microphthalmia (her eyes did not develop normally in the womb) and possible mild hearing loss; she was going to be euthanized by her owner/breeder until a good Samaritan stepped in and adopted her, then surrendered her to us when she could no longer care for her. Despite being unable to see, Bella navigates familiar surroundings very well and adapts quickly to new environments. Bella is in a foster home with cats and generally does well with them, ignoring them unless they interact with her and then inviting them to play; however, as she becomes more aware of them and recognizes their presence, she begins to obsessively attempt to play with them whenever they are near, which they frequently find offensive. She is timid with other dogs at first, but she would very much enjoy a dog playmate, as she is super playful and loves toys. She enjoys being outside, so a fenced yard would be ideal to give her a safe place to run without a leash. In her excitement when playing, she can't distinguish between the toy and her human's hand or arm; for that reason we recommend a home without young children. Bella is a very quiet dog; the only times she barks is when she plays and when another pet has food she would like to share. She prefers to be with her human all the time, whether it's following you around or curling up on a soft bed beside you as you work. She is crate trained and working on house training; she goes outside when taken and does well on a regular schedule, but she does still have accidents in the house. She came into our care with severely matted fur that had to be cut very short, but she will quickly grow fluffy again! See more of her story on Facebook and Instagram at the hashtag #debifostersbella * Bella's adoption fee is $325.
Adoption Process
We have an extensive application process where veterinary references are checked (we require all current and past animals have been altered and that the client shows a history of good vet care) and we has a number of questions targeted at encouraging the adopting family to really consider if they are ready financially and emotionally to support an animal life long. We also try to match the right animal with the right home with consideration to the adopters previous animal experience, energy level, and general personality. After reviewing and approving and applicant (on paper), we meet with them and all members of their house hold including other resident dogs. We offer one week trials to ensure this decision is in the best interest of both human and animal. If all parties are confident upon meeting, then we have a contract which also states that if any anytime they are unable to keep the animal, that they will return in to our organization. Adoption fees vary from $100-275 based on age, size, and breed, with $175 as an average.
