Meet Koa

My name is Koa. I am a three-month-old mixed breed pup. I will likely be medium sized when grown! I am incredibly special because I am deaf. Don't let this fact scare you, because in no way am I held back by inability to hear you or my surroundings. I rely more on body language and my other senses like smell and sight to guide me. It is very important that my person(s) is willing to research ownership of a hearing-impaired canine, or better yet, be experienced in ownership of a dog with such unique needs.  Important things to note are that training is mandatory when it comes to building a bond with me. I will thrive on a routine. Know that there is support out there for individuals owning deaf dogs--through support groups, online forums, local veterinarians, and, of course, the folks at the AHHS!  I'm such a wonderful boy. Please don't allow my hearing impairment to stand in the way of adopting me. I promise to be the best dog you've ever had! Adoption Process
$50.00 for cats and kittens, dogs range from $150.00 to $275.00. We have adoption applications and contracts for potential adopters to complete. Vet references are checked and home visits on some animals are required.
