TONKA NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:   Tonka      Best Guess for Breed:  Plott hound mix Best Guess for Age:  8 months as of December 2024      SEX:  Female   Approximate Weight:  40 lbs as of 11/23/24; still has a bit more to grow   Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen her with kids or cats but she can be tested if you have them.   Currently Living at:   South Carolina shelter; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get her freedom ride up here.   Tonka is Looking For:   Her forever home! She landed in the shelter through no fault of her own and is oh so eager to once again have her own humans for sniffy walks and all the adventures they can dream up. She's pretty young, likely under a year old, and is eager to see and experience the world! To explore all the toys! To go to dog school to learn to be the bestest girl! And to make new pup and people pals along the way!   What she wants most of all, though, is to love and be loved, to know where she belongs, to know she's under her own roof every time the sun goes down. In exchange she promises adoring gazes and happy tail wags and snuggles and loyal companionship. What do you say? Is Tonka the companion you have been seeking? What My Foster Says About Me:  We will update this once she has arrived in the DC area and spent some time with her foster Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:      The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. Adoption Process
1. Complete Adoption Application 2. Phone interview, vet check and home visit. 3. Contract signed (requirements include keeping a pet ID on dog at all times, keeping the dog as a pet, spaying/neutering puppies by 6 monts of age, returning the pet to Lucky Dog in the adopter cannot take care of it at any point in the future, and providing adequate vet care for the rest of the dog's life.
