PRICILA MARIE NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!  Name:  Pricila Marie    Best Guess for Breed: Long haired chihuahua mix  Best Guess for Age:   4.5 years as of April 2025     SEX:   Female Approximate Weight: 8.44 lbs   Gets Along With:  Other dogs! We haven't seen her with cats but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!We would be cautious placing her in a home with children under 12 years old because young kids can often scare small breed dogs with their level of energy or noise.  Children would need to be supervised closely to ensure their interactions with the dog are calm and gentle in nature Currently Living at:  DC area foster home.   Special adoption considerations:  Dogs from Puerto Rico have a major transition to go through when they arrive and will need humans who are very committed to socialization. We think this pup would do best with either a resident dog or a family who can make sure they can go on walks regularly with other dogs, visit the dog park, or go to doggie daycare to learn the ropes.   Additionally, Pricila Marie is a truly Lucky Dog! She tested positive for Heartworm disease but has already been treated! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites.  Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. We are happy to talk more in depth about heartworm disease and treatment during the adoption counseling process.   Pricila Marie is Looking For:  Her forever home! This small sweetie is coming all the way from Puerto Rico to find her humans. She knows they're somewhere here and can't wait to meet them. She's got so much on her wish list - sniffy walks by her humans' side, romps in parks, all the adventures they can dream up. And quality kibble and a cushy dog bed - and lots and lots of snuggles and cuddles! Pricila Marie may be small but the love in her heart for her humans is enormous. She can't wait to bestow upon her family all the adoring gazes and little tail wags and loving companionship she's storing up for them! What do you say? Adoption Process
1. Complete Adoption Application 2. Phone interview, vet check and home visit. 3. Contract signed (requirements include keeping a pet ID on dog at all times, keeping the dog as a pet, spaying/neutering puppies by 6 monts of age, returning the pet to Lucky Dog in the adopter cannot take care of it at any point in the future, and providing adequate vet care for the rest of the dog's life.
