Meet DAVIS

Foster notes, 7/16/24:My name is Davis, and I could tell you about my earlier life, but truth is, it’s not very happy. There is some speculation that I might have been hit by a car and/or thrown out of a car at some point. I do remember coming to Burlington Animal Services in early April with a badly injured leg. I was in there for about 2 months and my leg wasn’t getting better so my foster family took me home to help me recover. After a few weeks my foster mom became concerned about my leg and took me back to the shelter vet for another evaluation. The vet concluded that my leg would have to be amputated. To make matters even worse, due to unforeseen circumstances, my foster family was not able to keep me. Right now I have some healing to do, but I’m going to get well soon so that you can adopt me and I can be your new best friend. Do you think you have room in your home and heart for me? I promise, I will show you unconditional love and loyalty. Here’s what my foster family had to say about me: Davis is a happy, super affectionate boy, who is eager to please. He is a great companion. Some days he would follow his foster dad out to his shop where he would be content to lie on the floor beside dad’s workbench, or hang out with foster mom in the garden to keep her company. He got along with our 13 year old dog, and the two would often hang out together. Davis is housebroken and knows basic commands; come, sit, stay, wait, bed. Walking on a leash is a work in progress. He is very good walking on a loose leash until he sees a biker or jogger. Then he gets excited and pulls, but he is easily corrected. Davis is not fond of fireworks and thunderstorms. He would pace for awhile before finally settling down close to his family. Davis loved being with his people! He began to get a little overprotective and would get uneasy when people would come in the house. He would benefit from some training to address his reactivity, but he is a fast learner and so eager to please. With training, love, and patience he will be a wonderful companion and family member.
