LOVEPAWS

We are similar to Baltimore-based RescueWell in trying to keep pets in their homes but we focus our efforts on low-income areas of PG County. We do not pull animals from the shelter but instead work with pet owners to keep pets in their homes through various types of assistance including our county-wide pet food bank and re-homing. We also help promote animals at the Prince George's County Animal Shelter through shelter photo shoots and adoption events.

Meet Moose

MOOSE (watch my video!) Male, neutered 1-1/2 years old Pit Bull Terrier 75 lbs. Microchipped, up-to-date on core vaccines and takes monthly flea/tick/heartworm prevention Good with kids, cats and dogs Meet Moose! A young dog with a unique quirk - he's allergic to stainless steel. The easy solution is that he is fed from ceramic bowls and enjoys his food just as much as any other dog.  This 18-month-old house hippo is a ball of energy and love.  He was rescued after his current foster family received a tip of potential animal abuse and decided to take him in.  He entered their home as a big ole goofball and his goofiness hasn't worn off since! Moose quickly took to the rest of the dependents in the home - including two cats, a small dog and a 3-year-old child.  He loves to play (though he plays a little rough because he's 75 lbs of pure muscle), will destroy any toy with fluff inside of it and eats everything he can. Moose is house trained, crate trained and very, very slowly (and somewhat begrudgingly) learning to walk well on the leash. After a nice long walk or romp at the park, Moose wants nothing more than to prove to you that he is, and has always been, a lapdog! He was made for cuddles and naps, and can often be found sleeping on his back with all four paws in the air like he doesn't have a care in the world. He had a rough start of it, but Moose is resilient and a love bomb ready for his forever family! He would do best in a home that has a yard or that can keep up with his need for daily exercise and mental stimulation (puzzle toys, lick mats, frozen kongs, etc.) to help drain his energy.
