Despite her adorable appearance, little Lucy is going to be a challenging dog for placement, as she came to us in fear and unwilling to be loved. Her family, who had her for only a couple months after taking her in from another family, said she really only liked the man of the house, and he was the one she trusted for care and grooming. Even reaching for her leash or collar was not possible for our volunteers, so we are very relieved that a foster home, experienced with dogs with issues like Lucy's, was willing to take her for further assessment. We do feel that a rescue might be the best option for Lucy, and are actively seeking a placement with one that is willing to tackle her long-term needs for behavior modification and training. Lucy may weigh only ten pounds, but this pocket-pet is most definitely big on attitude! PLEASE NOTE: This pet has been posted by Friends of Campbell County Animal Control, Rustburg, VA. For questions about the pet, please email us at [email protected]. All adoptions begin with an application, found under the "Animals" tab on our website, friendsofcampbellcounty.org. *Unaltered babies under the age of six months can be adopted only to residents of Campbell County, the City of Lynchburg, and counties touching Campbell County. *Unaltered adult pets six months or older will need to be sterilized before they can be adopted outside our local area of Campbell County, the City of Lynchburg, or counties touching Campbell. *We do not promote dog adoptions to homes where an invisible fence is the fencing of choice. *We do not permit cats or kittens to be declawed following adoption.
Adoption Process
Begin with an application to adopt. Other pets in household must be spay/neutered, current with rabies vaccines, dogs need to be current with HW testing and heartguard. Fees range between $75 and $300. We follow up on spays/neuters for pets under six months, and the fees include spay/neuter. Contract requires it. Adults are adopted out already spayed/neutered. Pets must be returned to FOAC if adoption ends.
