Sophia, a native of New Mexico, landed in Virginia when her family moved here recently. We are sad to say that lack of training has led to her being surrendered to the shelter. Like many other energetic young dogs without an outlet, she doesn’t know what is acceptable and what is not. Now that she is an adult, one year-old, she is over the top with excitement at being around people and new situations. She is good with other dogs her size, we are told, but not with smaller pets. She is absolutely stunning, but very rude in her behavior toward humans when she is excited. She likes to jump and scratch and nip, all behaviors that are not going to be helpful finding a home. We understand she is crate, trained, and that will be helpful when it comes to teaching her limits, but we hope to enlist the help of a trainer to help her move past her initial problems. she is spayed, micro, chipped, and rather stunning! We were told she is a mountain cur mix— she has long legs, and the lean build and is beautiful to see. For information on adoption, start with an application from our website.
