Little Big Dog Rescue, Inc.

Jeanne Lou and Dot Terry have been rescuing dogs for several years. We decided to form a non-profit rescue so that we could fundraise to support our mission. Dot's mission is to provide a permanent home at Dot's Old Dogs Home for large-breed senior dogs whose owners have died or gone into a nursing home. These dogs do not do well in shelters, and will not get adopted. At our sanctuary, these dogs have a promise of a forever home, but are also promoted for adoption because there's nothing better than your very own human. Jeanne Lou's mission is to rescue chained/penned and yard-sale dogs. A lot of these dogs tend to be the smaller breeds, thus the name, Little Big Dog, because we rescue the little ones and the big ones. Jeanne Lou's rescues are placed in foster homes, vetted, s/n'd, socialized, and offered for adoption.

Meet Rooney

Rooney is five years old but he acts like a teacher recalled from retirement: he has no silliness, doesn't laugh at jokes, gives people a look that says  "Stand up straight! Pull your stomach in!" Underneath that stern exterior is a sweet and playful dog. Endlessly playful. Despite having been positive for heartworms, Rooney is very active and with his muscular body, he will need an owner with an active and muscular body (smile)! Planning any DIY projects? Rooney's your demo guy!

Adoption Process
Adoption application; references checked; home visit done. The adoption fee is $200. We have an adoption contract which enumerates our requirements for the animal to be a family pet, and that the animal be returned to our rescue if the adopter cannot keep the dog. We require dogs to be family pets, living indoors.
