Humane Society of Washington County, TN

The Appalachian Highlands Humane Society promotes Spay/Neuter. We pull animals from our local animal shelter and place them in foster care, give them any medical attention they need, spay/neuter prior to adoptions. We also, review craigslist on a daily basis and contact individuals listing "free" puppies, dogs, cats and kittens in an effort to get them to surrender to us and attempt to educate these individuals about spay/neuter and the danger of listing free animals. Along with our foster animals, we take animals currently residing in our local shelter to adoption events.

Meet Chessie

Chessie is a puppy that our hearts were just immediately drawn to. She was rescued by an individual that was commuting to work one day. She made it a point to be seen as she made direct eye contact with her savior from the roadway as if she were pleading, "Please stop and get me, I need help!"..and her rescuer did just that!  Thankfully, she was brought to the AHHS and we accepted her with open arms. We are so glad we did, because Chessie is a delight. Her foster family states that she has been such an easy pup to care for. She meshes well with other animals and she's so content with just hanging out playing with her toys! She sleeps crated through the night (6-7 hours) with no accidents. She is also great at alerting you when she needs to potty. She will stand at the door and cry softly when she needs to go out.    Chessie is a perfect age, 5 months. This means she is out of that itty bitty baby stage and on to "big girl stuff". No whining through the night, no hardcore potty training left to do. This girl's just about mastered it all! With a little basic obedience training, she'll make someone a fantastic companion!  Do not hesitate to reach out if interested in Chessie!  Please note that this is a mixed breed puppy.  There is no guarantee on breed or adult size.    This puppy is in a foster home.  You may complete an application at https://ahhumanesociety.org/dog-adoption-application/ Contact Halee for more information [email protected]
