Humane Society of Washington County, TN

The Appalachian Highlands Humane Society promotes Spay/Neuter. We pull animals from our local animal shelter and place them in foster care, give them any medical attention they need, spay/neuter prior to adoptions. We also, review craigslist on a daily basis and contact individuals listing "free" puppies, dogs, cats and kittens in an effort to get them to surrender to us and attempt to educate these individuals about spay/neuter and the danger of listing free animals. Along with our foster animals, we take animals currently residing in our local shelter to adoption events.

Meet Anderson

Introducing Anderson! Anderson joined the AHHS under unexpected circumstances. He was brought in by an individual stating that he had been dumped on their property. We aren't quite sure why anyone would dump such a wonderful dog. Anderson, Andy for short, is truly a charmer. He has won us all over in such a short time. His personality is fantastic, and he just loves attention. He is dog friendly and would do fine in a home with children! Anderson deserves a life of comfort and love given his unfortunate past. Could that be you? If so, email Halee at [email protected] with questions or apply on our website at ahhumanesociety.org.

Adoption Process
$50.00 for cats and kittens, dogs range from $150.00 to $275.00. We have adoption applications and contracts for potential adopters to complete. Vet references are checked and home visits on some animals are required.
