Humane Society of Washington County, TN

The Appalachian Highlands Humane Society promotes Spay/Neuter. We pull animals from our local animal shelter and place them in foster care, give them any medical attention they need, spay/neuter prior to adoptions. We also, review craigslist on a daily basis and contact individuals listing "free" puppies, dogs, cats and kittens in an effort to get them to surrender to us and attempt to educate these individuals about spay/neuter and the danger of listing free animals. Along with our foster animals, we take animals currently residing in our local shelter to adoption events.

She found her way to our house. She was dehydrated, hungry, and sick. My family took care of her. We fed her. We took her to the vet. We've been fostering her for the last few weeks. However, we can't keep her. She's a very friendly dog. She's very loyal. She's constantly by my side. She's housetrained. She's spayed. She's no trouble to care for. She's calm, mild mannered, and laid back. She likes to take walks. She good with other dogs. She doesn't, however, like cats. She'd make a great pet for any family. Plus, there's no training involved. She could easily transition to your home. Please feel free to contact me for more information (423-914-1463)."

Adoption Process
$50.00 for cats and kittens, dogs range from $150.00 to $275.00. We have adoption applications and contracts for potential adopters to complete. Vet references are checked and home visits on some animals are required.
