Lucky Dog Animal Rescue

Lucky Dog Animal Rescue is a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing homeless and abandoned animals, primarily dogs from high-kill shelters and owners who can no longer care for them. By working with committed volunteers, foster homes, local veterinarians, trainers, and boarding facilities, we are able to rescue hundreds of animals every year, provide them with loving temporary care, and find them well-matched, carefully screened forever homes. We also serve as a resource to our community and all pet owners by providing education and information on responsible pet ownership, including the importance of spay/neuter, positive behavior training, and good nutrition.

Meet Luca

LUCA NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!   Come meet Luca and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (May 26th) from 12-3 pm at the Petsmart in Silver Spring (12020 Cherry Hill Rd, Silver Spring, MD 20904)!     Name:  Luca         Best Guess for Breed: Maltese and Shih Tzu mix  Best Guess for Age:   1.5 years as of May 2024      SEX: Male   Approximate Weight:  12.2 lbs Gets Along With:  Other dogs! We haven't seen him with kids or cats but he can be tested Currently Living at: DC area foster home Special adoption considerations:  Luca was transferred to Lucky Dog before he could be neutered. We will alter him as soon as possible after he arrives in the DC area. However, if he is adopted before that time, his adopter must assume responsibility for his neuter. This must be done by June 11, 2024; there are NO exceptions or extensions to this. His adopter may take over the Lucky Dog appointment slot.  Luca is Looking For:  His forever home! Through no fault of his own, this ridiculously floofy pup landed in the shelter. He is eager to once again have his own humans for snuggles and world exploration! He's still young and hasn't seen nearly enough yet - and wants to do it all! Meeting new pup and people pals along the way sounds really good. And - that coat. Regular grooming along with daily brushing to prevent painful mats is definitely on his wish list as well.  Luca also knows what's most important in life: knowing he's safe and loved and under his own roof. In exchange, he promises adoring gazes and lap warming (well, at his size, at least one small part of your lap) and loyal companionship for all his days. What do you say? Is he one you can see by you, way down there by your ankles? What My Foster Says About Me:  Luca is a sweet playful boy! He has a fair amount of energy, and he likes to say hi to other dogs on walks and go to the dog park! He is learning to walk on the leash, and he enjoys our walks. He hasn't had any accidents in the house, but I cannot guarantee he is housebroken. He is not a fan of his crate, but we are working on that. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:      The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online   at   bit.ly/adoptaluckydog  .   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. That said, we cannot make any guarantees about age, breed or temperament.
