Meet Marley: At shelter

MARLEY, 3 years old, was neutered and microchipped on Thursday,  our regularly-scheduled shelter clinic-day. Marley is a “weenie” mix with lots to say about life, specifically about attempts to pick him up. In other words—DO NOT TRY IT! This behavior may be because Marley has not been handled much in his previous life, (he loves being outdoors—was he an outdoor dog?) but could also be because he had bad experiences in tbe past when he was picked up. We plan to work with Marley with conditioning him to accept bending, as he does respond to positive reinforcement.  We’d like to find him a home willing to work with him. He is 19 pounds! Start with an application: www.friendsofcampbellcounty.org     PLEASE NOTE: This pet has been posted by Friends of Campbell County Animal Control, Rustburg, VA. For questions about the pet, please email us at [email protected]. All adoptions begin with an application, found under the "Animals" tab on our website, friendsofcampbellcounty.org. *Unaltered babies under the age of six months can be adopted only to residents of Campbell County, the City of Lynchburg, and counties touching Campbell County. *Unaltered adult pets six months or older will need to be sterilized before they can be adopted outside our local area of Campbell County, the City of Lynchburg, or counties touching Campbell. *We do not promote dog adoptions to homes where an invisible fence is the fencing of choice. *We do not permit cats or kittens to be declawed following adoption.

Adoption Process
Begin with an application to adopt. Other pets in household must be spay/neutered, current with rabies vaccines, dogs need to be current with HW testing and heartguard. Fees range between $75 and $300. We follow up on spays/neuters for pets under six months, and the fees include spay/neuter. Contract requires it. Adults are adopted out already spayed/neutered. Pets must be returned to FOAC if adoption ends.
