The Animal Protection Society of Durham (APS) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that has been helping animals in our community since 1970, and has managed the Durham County Animal Shelter since 1990. Hiiii. I'm a sweet, sensitive girl trying so hard to be brave in this big scary shelter! I'm shy and cautious with new people, but be gentle with me and I'll ask you for affection in no time. I like soft toys, cheese, and peanut butter. In my new home I'll need confidence building, a cozy retreat, and lots of positive experiences. I bet we can do anything together! Will you visit me and find out? Kids: 10+, very sensitive, needs very gentle kids Dogs: Stiff and nervous, some sniffing. Slow and careful intros with very gentle dogs. May have guarding tendencies; caution with resources

Adoption Process
Cats: $95 Dogs: $125-$175 Requirements: Government issues ID 18 and older Own home OR live in a place where pets are allowed No past animal about charges Cannot be under the influence when adopting Cannot be adopting the animal as a gift
