Lucky Dog Animal Rescue

Lucky Dog Animal Rescue is a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing homeless and abandoned animals, primarily dogs from high-kill shelters and owners who can no longer care for them. By working with committed volunteers, foster homes, local veterinarians, trainers, and boarding facilities, we are able to rescue hundreds of animals every year, provide them with loving temporary care, and find them well-matched, carefully screened forever homes. We also serve as a resource to our community and all pet owners by providing education and information on responsible pet ownership, including the importance of spay/neuter, positive behavior training, and good nutrition.

SADIE NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!   Want to see more pictures and videos of Sadie in her foster home?! Follow her foster adventures on Instagram @luckydogsinloudoun!   Name:  Sadie          Best Guess for Breed:  Lab and Golden Retriever mixBest Guess for Age:   4 years as of Feb 2024         SEX:    female   Approximate Weight:  50lbs   Gets Along With:  Other dogs and cats! We have not seen Sadie with kids yet can test her if you have them in your home.   Currently Living at: DC area foster home!   Sadie is Looking For: My home in the DC area! I am looking for a family who will take me on long walks and to the dog park to play with my friends. I'm looking for lots of love and attention and want to be the very best pup in my new home. What My Foster Says About Me:   Where do I begin?! I have nothing but good things to say about Sadie! It is wild to me that she has not been adopted yet, because she is an AMAZING dog! She has an absolutely gorgeous burnt orange coat with the cutest little white toes, chest, and snout, and a very tiny amount of white on the very tip of her tail, like a paint brush that got dipped in white paint. Speaking of her tail, it wags so much! She has such a good wag, and when she is really excited, it makes her whole butt move like a helicopter. It is laugh-out-loud hilarious! She also has the cutest pink-brown nose. :) She also has so many different weird ways of sitting, which is so entertaining. She sploots sitting up and will sit like a person would when she is riding in a car, bent at the hips with her legs in front of her. She has the best puppy dog eyes even though she is 4 years old - they are just so soulful. She knows how to sit on command and takes her treats VERY gently. She has been doing really well on the leash (I am sure she is strong enough to pull me, but she doesn't), and she is doing well with her housetraining. She will even come up to me while I am working and just look at me when she would like to go out for a potty break. She lets me guide her into her crate at night and she sleeps through the night (the first night she had about 3 minutes of a little barking and whimpering, but once she realized it was bedtime, she settled right down).  She is so soft and has the most velvety hound-like ears. When she is on her leash, she does not like it when dogs approach her right in the face (I wouldn't either!), and she will react to that so adoption events are not her forte. But when we see dogs on our walks, she is good about leaving them, and has been doing well with them going by. She also lived at boarding with other dogs for a couple weeks and did really well there off-leash so I am sure other dogs in the home would be fine. The boarding facility raved about her and gushed how "kind" she was. :) She has been doing great with my cat - sometimes she is interested enough to look at her, but she mostly just ignores her and will sniff her when she goes by. Although I do not have kids, I saw her with kids at a small adoption event, and she was fine with them. Considering her gentle nature, I could definitely see her living with kids. She doesn't jump on you or countersurf. She is a stupendous car buddy - she either sits quietly or naps. She likes people and treats. She is going to make someone so lucky :) Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:      The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter.
