Central Virginia Regional Rescue

My name is Laura and I am the president of CVRR. For 5 years I was the dog coordinator and board member for the Humane Society for Campbell County, where we had one of the largest and most respected foster-care-based rescues in the region. I have been a veterinary technician for 15 years. I have also been a trainer and behaviorist for 10+ years. My volunteers and I pulled away from HSCC because of a varying value system and different long-term goals, to create an organization based on a totally volunteer-run administration where every dollar goes to the animals' care. Educational outreach is also of paramount importance. Rescue has been a huge part of my life and my family's life, and we love having the opportunity to not only help animals get a well-deserved second chance but also play a part in completing a family with a new furry addition. Many volunteers in the rescue world I have found are very much animal people, but I enjoy the human aspect nearly as much as the opportunity to advocate for animals.

Meet Ladybug

Meet Ladybug, the pint-sized powerhouse with a personality as bright as her name! This 12-week-old bundle of energy is ready to take on the world, one playful pounce at a time. Ladybug is an outgoing and spirited puppy who loves to be the center of attention. She's not afraid to take charge and playfully "boss" her siblings around, but she knows how to respect her elders and shows lovely manners with the older dogs in her foster home. This little lady loves to be held and cuddled, but don't let her sweet face fool you – she's a champion playtime enthusiast! Fearless and full of curiosity, Ladybug tackles every toy with gusto. She's a smart cookie, quick to learn and eager to explore. Mealtime is a highlight for Ladybug, but she's a firm believer in "what's mine is mine!" She's not keen on sharing her food with her siblings, but she is the "boss" of the litter. When she is separated from her siblings she turns into a squishy love who soaks up cuddles and rolls over for belly rubs! If you're looking for a confident, playful, and intelligent puppy who will bring endless fun and laughter into your life, Ladybug is the perfect match! Come meet this dynamic little lady and let her charm her way into your heart. *This dog's adoption fee is $275. This includes her spay, microchip, vaccinations, dewormer and flea/tick prevention.

Adoption Process
We have an extensive application process where veterinary references are checked (we require all current and past animals have been altered and that the client shows a history of good vet care) and we has a number of questions targeted at encouraging the adopting family to really consider if they are ready financially and emotionally to support an animal life long. We also try to match the right animal with the right home with consideration to the adopters previous animal experience, energy level, and general personality. After reviewing and approving and applicant (on paper), we meet with them and all members of their house hold including other resident dogs. We offer one week trials to ensure this decision is in the best interest of both human and animal. If all parties are confident upon meeting, then we have a contract which also states that if any anytime they are unable to keep the animal, that they will return in to our organization. Adoption fees vary from $100-275 based on age, size, and breed, with $175 as an average.
