My name’s Patrick, and I’m a 1-year-old pug mix who’s been on quite the journey. Not long ago, I was wandering the streets of California, all alone. I ended up in a high-kill shelter, and honestly, it was a scary place. My chances weren’t looking good, especially with this itchy skin condition on my back. But then, my luck changed! The amazing humans at LALDR saw something special in me and brought me to safety.Now I’m living the good life with my foster family in Maple Ridge, and let me tell you, it’s a dream come true! They’ve been so kind, giving me daily baths with medicated shampoo (it’s like a spa day!), feeding me the most delicious and healthy meals, and showering me with cuddles and belly rubs. I’ve even got my own cozy spot to rest and toys to play with—something I’d never had before!I’m also learning what it really means to be a dog. I get to go on walks every day, sniff around, and make new friends. I love other dogs and think people are just the best. I’ve only been in Canada since January 19th, but already, I can feel how much love is out there for me.Now, I’m looking for my forever family. I’d love a home where I can keep soaking up attention, go on adventures, and keep learning about this fantastic life. If you think we’d be a perfect match, let’s meet! Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you.While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or  Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs.The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website.

Adoption Process
-adoption application, phone interview, home visit, meet the dog. Adoption fees range from $400 to $600 depending on the dog's age. Contract required. Spay/neuter if animal currently too young & return policy to us if animal can no longer be kept, unless other contract arrangements previously made.
