Meet LOUNA (Tunisia) yo - Arrvg January
It is critical I find a home by mid-January, in order to come.Greetings. My name is LOUNA and here is a bit about me:Breed: Terrier/Pointer mix (Tunisian village dog)Age: 6 monthsGender: FemaleWeight: 15.5 lbsHeight: 20 inchesCountry of origin: TunisiaHighlight(s): affectionate, shy, social, playfulThough lacking a bit of confidence yet, I am quite social and play a lot with my rescuer's young cousin using a football and some sticks. What fun.My rescuer was in Tunisia this summer for a beach holiday. On her first day, she found us puppies and we were only 1 month old. We'd been abandoned in a building and she was told by locals our mum had been poisoned. Isn't that awful? She looked for a shelter, but learned that in Tunisia strays are regularly shot in mass culls. The few remaining shelters in the country are full & in terrible conditions. With the help of her 70 year old mum, she tried to feed us and give basic vet care, since we lacked everything. Thankfully, our rescuer has some relatives who live in the country agree to take the puppies to safety and care for them temporarily. Our rescuer had to return to her country and is trying to find fosters or adopters for us remaining pups, so we won't be released into the streets (or worse, chained to a tree forever, etc...) in a few months (mid-January.) That is as long as our rescuer's cousin can keep us.I typically hang out with Holly, my sister. We look very similar too. While I am a bit more shy than my energetic siblings, I still like affection. I am just not confident pushing my way in for it. I'm sure once you show me attention, I it will boost my perception of stepping out a little more boldly. While we have not really been much in the real world yet, as our rescuer has protected us, we are young and ready for our own homes. We'll just need a loving home to show us the ropes of life in Canada. My other siblings are posted or soon will be: Holly & Funny. A few others are already being adopted elsewhere in Europe.Additional vids: https://youtu.be/AOXJEPmOGoY, https://youtu.be/2C2VicVdgAw, https://youtu.be/tXqEzDl2bHU, https://youtube.com/shorts/pYu59cn4Lp8.Energy Level: moderate I get along with:Dogs: yesCats: unknownKids: yesFears: None observed. Please be patient assisting me during this transition.Training: basic: leash work, sit and get upLeash skills: some. Please be prepared to continue training.House trained: No. Please help me learn.Health notes:I am too young yet to be spayed/neutered, but I am vaccinated and microchipped. Spay/neuter will be the responsibility of the adopter and is required for my adoption to be finalized. My adoption fee is $800.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. This includes my transportation to Canada, if I am able to be accompanied by a flight volunteer directly to Vancouver.Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you.Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs.[MID-EAST] *Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Bordetella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East.[TURKEY] Dogs from Turkey receive a 4D SNAP test to include Heartworm, Ehrlichiosis, Leishmania and Anaplasmosis.
