Meet Luigi

Meet Luigi! He is a 13 year old Maltese/Terrier according to owners. He is a boy who will need grooming to get him looking good. The shelter felt he looked like a Llama now with his current groom. He was accidently run over by his owner's car and they didn't have the funds for his care and relinquished him to the shelter for euthanasia. It was decided to save his life and find him a rescue so here he is. He had a dislocated hip and that was repaired. He also suffered a pelvic fracture. He is doing very well considering but he will need care that he does not overdo activity in order that he heal properly. This will mean very little activity from 2-4 weeks, taking us to mid December before he has a checkup and given the all clear. He is surprisingly agile considering what he has been through. He is very thin at 8.2 lb at present and is not a good eater. He is on Gabapentin for arthritis and pain control and an antibiotic for a few more days since he had neuter surgery and some teeth removed. He has only a few teeth left so will probably need to be on soft food. He does like cheese and cottage cheese. He is nicely housebroken and can hold it all night if he is let out late evening, otherwise he will find a pee pad and use that.He does not bark and sleeps a lot since he is an older boy. I think he would be a good walker once he is allowed to do that. He does seem to like to explore outside if given the chance. He has not played with toys or the other dog in the home. That may change as he gets feeling better. He carries his tail up and seems to be pretty happy in general. And he is cute. A very sweet boy that deserves a quiet home with loving people. He has all his vaccinations, microchip and will be ready to go around mid December. If you are interested in Luigi, Please fill out a statement of interest on our website .
