Meet Gabi
Gabi is a perfectly sized 40Lb and nearly 1 year old girl. She entered the shelter when she was 8 weeks old where she waited for nearly 8 months before coming into rescue as an Underdog. Engaging with new people is hard for Gabi, however, once she feels safe and trusts her affectionate loving side shines through, and her happy, silly, puppy playfulness pops out. With continued training her ease with meeting new people will improve. She’s learned toys, chews, and puzzle toys are lots of fun and soft cozy dog beds are the best. She loves zoomies in a fenced yard and daily walks/hikes in quieter areas, rest of the time she settles well inside. She is good with other polite dogs who give her a few minutes to understand they don’t mean her harm, then she wants to play. She’d pair up well with a well balanced dog who has a playful side. She’s shown a strong desire to chase smaller critters, so to be safe we’d say no cats. The energy and movements of young kids would be too much for her right now, but calm dog savvy older kids might be ok. She's a smart treat motivated girl. She’s house trained, uses a dog door. She'll sit for treats, and is working on other basics (down, touch, and place). She sleeps through the night in her crate and is fine crated for a few hours during the day. She does well in the car. Gabi’s fit is going to be with someone willing to give her the space and time she needs to gain trust in them and in a new surroundings. This will take a few weeks in a new home, but she will get there if you can be patient with her. She also needs a home with a securely fenced yard big enough for zoomies. Her family will need to continue helping her build trust and confidence in new places and new people. With patience, gentle guidance, a steady routine, and plenty of love this young lady will open herself up to you and work her way deep into your heart as the most endearing and faithful sidekick you could ask for. To help her get the chance she deserves, Gabi can be adopted under a 3 week foster-to-adopt trial period (all fostering supplies provided during the trial). And, to help get things started off on the right paw, a training session with an Underdog trainer (who she’s already met with) will be included. She even has a special adoption fee of $280.
