Animal Profile: Savannah is a 7-month-old Cattle Dog - Shepherd mix. She and her siblings were dumped in the high desert in California. Luckily they were found by a good Samaritan and are now in the PNW waiting to find their forever homes. More details to follow. Foster Update: Savannah is an incredibly sweet, gentle and active young pup. She is slow to warm up to new people so she will need a family that has fearful/shy dog experience, but once she’s familiar with a person she is their BEST FRIEND. When she’s not playing with a toy, she wants nothing more than to be by your side for snuggles and belly rubs. She is house trained, crate trained, knows basic commands, and is excelling at leash training. As a typical young dog, she is working on controlling her excitement, and not jumping up on people. She’s a smart dog that is praise- and food-motivated, and easy to correct. Repetition and consistency are key when training her. She takes her cues from our resident dog so we are only considering homes with a securely fenced yard and another balanced dog at this time. She has done well interacting with kids from 5-12 years old, and was cat tested when she was younger; she has not shown a prey drive as she has aged. Once you've formed a bond with her, Savannah will make a great adventure buddy for hiking and camping. Her ideal home will meet the mental and physical stimulation needs typical of a dog her age. Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550, which includes spay/neuter, current vaccinations per AVMA standards, microchip, negative heartworm test if over 6 months, and health certificate. Your donation may be tax deductible as DG is a 501c3 organization.
