Meet Tanner a Aussie mix pup

Tanner is a sweet 1-plus-year-old 21-pound, Australian Shepherd Mix.  his owner was in a very bad auto wreck and hospitalized. Animal control rescued the mom and her 5 pups from the home where they resided. once the owner recovered, she could not afford the fees to recover all 6 dogs and relinquished the pups to the shelter. Tanner was the shyest and would not approach anyone in the pen. We took him into rescue to give him a home life again so he can decompress and know he is OK. What Tanner Needs Tanner is doing well in the rescue. He can understandably become overwhelmed by the energy of the other dogs, so I give him alone time with a toy and he is happy. Tanner will immediately seek a lap if he is feeling unsure. he likes to know he is safe and he loves to be close to a human and have their security in his safety. Tanner would not be a dog to take to dog parks as he will feel threatened by so many animals. He will do well on walks, trails and light hikes. He is curious and can be adventurous. Tanner would likely enjoy the beach as well once he is settled into his new family.  Tanner will do well with 1-2 other very friendly medium sized dogs. He seeks out attention and love and gives soft kisses.  Tanner needs to have professional training with a fear-free, positive reinforcement traineras a stipulation for adoption. He has been through a lot including being underfed-underweight and has the need for structure and guidance to help him become a well adjusted dog.
