Meet Sugar Cookie
Just in time for the holidays, this sweetie will keep you cozy and warm. Known as Cookie, we think she is possibly a Chihuahua/Terrier mix and is approximately 2 1/2 years young and weighs 9lbs.She loves to go on walks. During her first few outings, she was apprehensive of strangers and her surroundings. She definitely needs a strong hand on the leash because she will be a flight risk, so she needs someone to help her gain some confidence. She can be handled by strangers, though, with no problems. This playful, lively girl loves to run and jump in the house and play with her toys. Of course, like most dogs, she gets the zoomies. Cookie respects household items and has not been destructive. With a history of barking, apartment living is not for this girl. She has been protective of her foster mom and the house and yard, but her behavior seems to be improving as more strangers visit. Cookie definitely needs a securely-fenced yard.Cookie is still learning her commands such as“stay” and “come” so continued training would be recommended. But the one thing she is really good at is going in her crate. She has also stayed in a laundry room for a short period and didn’t destroy anything. Cookie has lived amicably with older children and teenagers and also dogs and cats. She is currently living with a small dog and once she has recovered from her spay surgery, they will be able to run around and play together again. Foster mom thinks a young playmate for Cookie would be ideal. For the most part, she is house trained. Cookie rides well in a car while restrained in a dog bed but acts as if she would prefer to sit on your lap and help you drive. As mentioned, Cookie will keep you warm on cold days. Lying on your lap is one of her favorite things to do. She is spayed, microchipped and vaccinated. If you are interested in meeting Cookie, contact the Alternative Humane Society by filling out a statement of interest on our website: www.alternativehumanesociety.com
