Meet EMMETT RICHMOND
NAME: Emmett Richmond LITTER: He is last pup available of the "Legally Blonde" litter AGE/GENDER: Born 11/17/2022, Male BREED: Pit Bull and hound? mix (MOST PUPPIES WE GET DO NOT HAVE PARENTS SO THE MIX IS UNKNOWN) TEMPERAMENT: Affectionate, easygoing, a people kind of dog HOUSE TRAINING: Yes. He knows when to go out. Unfortunately, he doesn't ask to go out, so you have to be mindful of the time and direct him outside. CRATE TRAINING: Good. He eats and sleeps in his crate. OTHER DOGS: Good. However, he can be exuberant or pushy, so needs appropriate meetings. No dog parks. He currently lives with other dogs of all ages and sizes. CATS: He ignores them, but all cat energy is different. The cats in his foster home are not shy or runners. They will put a dog in its place. A streaking cat in a new home may elicit a prey drive response. CHILDREN: Dog-respectful children, 12 and older. Emmett is a big boy who doesn't know his own strength. He's playful and exuberant and may be too much for smaller children. ADOPTION DONATION: $600.00 HEALTH: Emmett is healthy! He is altered, microchipped, flea treated, and dewormed. Your adoption donation goes toward the cost of this vet care as well as transportation and general care costs. HISTORY: Emmett and his siblings came to us from an overcrowded Texas shelter where they were at risk of being euthanized. NOTES FROM FOSTER HOME: Emmett is a big boy and a wonderful companion. He can be a lazy boy and likes to lounge around with you but it's very important to get him out and about as he can get overweight without exercise. That's just how he's built! LOL He is not going to be your marathon runner but he will need multiple walks for training and socialization and exercise! He does need someone with power breed experience as he is a bigger boy at around 60-70ish lbs. He is fostered with other dogs and does well with all ages, sizes, and sexes, but he will need slow introductions with new dogs as he can be a little uncertain and a little pushy with newcomers. He still lacks some confidence due to his age, but that will get better with more training and socialization. He's still young so learning his manners. He does tend to prefer people, however, so spending time with you can be more rewarding than going to a dog park. He loves to snuggle and play and thrives on affection. His forever family should be committed to lots of training - obedience, housetraining, and socialization. This will ensure that he grows into a confident, well behaved adult! Puppies' personalities are dependent on their environment, and the structure and training they are given, in addition to socialization. Their personalities continue to grow and be shaped by their new adoptive families. Training and socialization classes are highly recommended for their personal development. He will more than reward you for all your hard work with lots of love, loyalty, and laughs. He is leash trained and he does have basic obedience training as well! We always recommend our dogs be trained in the goal of mastering the Canine Good Citizen certification 10 skills. All dogs adopted from Motley Zoo come with a leash and either a Martingale collar or a harness, depending on each dog's particular needs. Welcome to Motley Zoo Animal Rescue. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit animal rescue organization that is run by volunteers. Motley Zoo does not have a brick and mortar shelter location. Instead, all our rescue animals are cared for in private foster homes where the animals receive one-on-one care and attention in a home environment until permanent placement is found. Please email [email protected] and request an adoption application and we will work toward approving you as an adopter with our rescue so that we can set a time for you to meet!
