Meet HERCULES (Yukon) NVS
Hi, my name is Hercules! I am a gentle giant currently living my best life in the Yukon, Canada looking for a female only family that loves love as much as I do!I can also be included in a home with a male who is patient and willing to show me that men are safe, loving beings!Breed: Lab/MastiffAge: 2.5 yearsGender: MaleWeight: 55 kgHeight: 77 cmHighlight(s): cuddly, loves attention, VERY food motivated, fast learnerFound tied to a car in bad condition, I have had a cruel start to life. I was used as a bait dog and once I was too weak to be of any use, I was turned away. Thankfully I was saved by some kind rescuers and a loving veterinarian. The vet worked on some skin injuries, and I am currently on medication for Ehrlichiosis (a tic borne disease that can be treated) already on track to make a full recovery.Even though I went through so much early in life, I thankfully don't have any other health issues to note.My rescuers describe me as a gentle giant and the home I am currently living in says often how impressed they are with my learning skills. Despite all the cruelty and hurt I went through, I am sweet and soft towards people though men can be scary and I would need a kind, patient man to show me otherwise. I am also okay around other pets, including dogs and cats! The dog I am currently living with shares all of his toys and his bed with me even though he is MUCH smaller. I am potty trained and I am making great progress with the word "no"!I love being around women and getting lots of pets and cuddles! Even from kids.. In fact... outside of eating, cuddles and pets are my favorite activities. I LOVE food and treats and I am happy to share! I don't get territorial or aggressive when it comes to food or eating. I would be a great fit for a home that can match my gentle energy and provide me with a safe and loving amosphere. I am neutered and currently enjoying the great outdoors in the Yukon!Energy level: Medium though I do get spurts of high energy zoomiesGet along with:Dogs: yesCats: yesKids: yesFears: Men - trainable behavior but would take time and dedicated patience/love Training: I am a VERY quick learner and already understand basic commands! I even sit and WAIT to eat when I am asked to!Leash skills: I am getting used to my leash as you can see in my videos. Please be prepared to continue training with me.House trained: I am peeing outside like a pro! I love the yard and being able to go whenever I need toHealth notes: As mentioned above, I am currently on antibiotics for ehrlichiosis but the family I am with says that my energy and skin have improved 10 fold since I started them. Otherwise, I am a happy boy working to get my weight to where I'd feel best.I have been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. My adoption fee is $800.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. This includes my transportation from the Yukon, if I am able to be accompanied by a flight volunteer directly to Vancouver.Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website.[MID-EAST] *Vaccinations: Dogs originally from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Bordetella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East.
