Meet Joy

Miss Joy - ready to be your best adventure buddy and cuddly companion! At approximately 4 years old and 14 pounds fully grown, she is looking for someone to cherish her as much as she will cherish them. Joy is a chihuahua mix, which brings her some spunkiness, loyalty and whole lot of love.Joy has been living in her foster home peacefully with other dogs, big and small, and prefers dogs that can respect her space and take cues as needed. Kids old enough to understand dog body language is recommended. She has not been tested around cats. While her house training has been going great, she is also very comfortable in her cozy crate for meals and short nap times. Feeding her meals and high value treats/bones in her crate, or a separate safe space will need to be continued if there are other dogs in the house; as she is quite the foodie! Loose leash walks, car rides, adventures, camping and slow introductions to new people and dogs have been very successful. She may take a little to warm up, but once she does - be prepared to be showered with kisses! Laying belly up and getting good scratchies is her love language. If there are playful dogs around, she can play the role as the ‘play police’ at times. At other times, she is out being the playful one and even loves to fetch tennis balls! Joy needs someone that will be dedicated to her daily walks/exercise to ensure that she is her healthiest and best self possible, from here on out - which will include trimming off a few pounds to be at an ideal weight for her breed/size. A fenced yard would be great for her to be able to relax, sunbathe, play ball and make it easy to continue her house training as needed. Joy will be spayed, microchipped and current on vaccinations before she is adopted to her forever family. If you’re looking to add JOY to your life, please fill out a statement of interest on our website - https://alternativehumanesociety.com/statement-of-interest/
