Worthy Dog Rescue

Worthy Dog Rescue is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to helping dogs in distress, especially those living on chains, in pens, or in neglectful and abusive situations. Our mission is to provide a better life for these dogs, while working to address the root problems of animal overpopulation and improve animal welfare. We do this through community outreach and by supporting and educating dog owners in underserved communities, by sponsoring spay and neuter programs, and by rescuing and rehabilitating dogs in need.

Meet Peyton

Meet Peyton. Peyton was part of an abandoned family of pups we rescued. She and her mate, Woody, had been living outside in the bitter winter cold when we found them—and Peyton was very pregnant. Thankfully, we got them to safety just in time. She delivered her babies in a warm, loving foster home and proved to be a wonderful, attentive mama. Now that her pups have been weaned and she’s been spayed, Peyton is officially retired from motherhood and ready for her next chapter—finding a forever home of her own. Peyton has been in her new foster home for over a week now, where she lives with her foster mom and dad, a pittie, and two chihuahuas. She integrated easily into the pack, feeling most comfortable at first with the dogs closer to her size—but now she’s playing with the pittie too. Peyton truly enjoys the company of other dogs and would love a canine buddy in her new home. Donna, her foster mom, describes Peyton as having a great personality. She can be a little shy at first, but with just a little attention, she settles in quickly and builds trust. She’s a fun little low rider who enjoys playing fetch and loves her toys. With a moderate energy level, she’s happy romping around with her foster siblings but also enjoys cuddling up on the couch for some downtime. She’s very enthusiastic about giving kisses, and Donna is gently working with her on moderation. Peyton has started going on regular leash walks and seems to really enjoy them. She loves the outdoors and greets new people and dogs with ease. She’s house-trained and crate-trained—she sleeps in her crate at night, whining a bit at first but quickly settling in. Thanks to her good behavior, she’s earned more freedom around the house, and Donna plans to let her roam at night/ Peyton is a lovely little dog with goodwill toward everyone she meets. She’ll make a wonderful, affectionate companion—and a perfect pup buddy, too.  This sweet, low-riding lovebug will be coming to town in late April. Apply today!
