ARF was organized to rescue and transport pets from the county shelter in order to decrease euthanasia rates. Through the years, ARF has been able to help additional pets that the shelter either wouldn't accept or didn't have room to house. ARF does posting and transport for both organizations.

Meet Lucky

Lucky was surrendered (along with another little dog) by someone with a very demanding work schedule, which left the dogs home alone most of the time. Lucky is about 3 years old and weighs 28 pounds. He looks like a "pocket husky," but his breed is mostly chihuahua along with some min pin, pomeranian, poodle, and beagle mixed in according to his DNA test.  Lucky is used to a crate, but he has the run of the house in his foster home. In a new space, Lucky may mark his territory, but then it's done. His foster mom describes him as very smart, sweet, and calm. He loves human attention and sitting on a lap for petting. He is submissive and plays well with other dogs. He is afraid of loud noises, like storms, so without a privacy fence, he might take off. He might never want to climb out and leave his family under normal circumstances, but he can climb a chain link fence and privacy fence would make him secure! There are no cats in his present home. Lucky loves to watch TV on the couch with his person. He has been completely vetted and kept on flea protection. He was neutered on 6/15/22. He is a cute and happy little guy who loves attention  He deserves his own home and family to love him forever and make him feel safe! Lucky was adopted once into a loving home, but unfortunately he had to be returned by no fault of his own.  He was "chubby" upon return, and his foster mom has worked to help him drop a few pounds, which hasn't been easy. He gets long walks regularly and loves that, but he has not dropped much weight. He's a "perfect little dog," says his foster mom, "who loves to cuddle and to be a lap dog. He loves walks and plays well with the other little resident dog in the home." Lucky will be a wonderful addition to some lucky family!
