New Rattitude, Inc.

New Rattitude is a national, all-volunteer non-profit rescue/adoption agency whose mission is to rescue Rat Terriers (and mixes that are predominantly Rat Terrier) from imminent death at animal shelters, the streets, abusive/neglectful homes, or from owners who can no longer keep a dog, and to rehome the dogs into new and permanent, screened and approved adoptive homes. Each dog rescued is cared for in a safe and nurturing foster care environment where he or she receives appropriate medical care, a high quality diet, training and socialization. To achieve these ends, the organization is involved with transportation, volunteer recruiting and training, mentoring, fund-raising, and establishing and maintaining other programs deemed helpful to achieving the mission of rescuing and re-homing Rat Terriers.

Meet Ross (VA)

Meet handsome, lovable Ross. He is 2 years old and was picked up as a stray. He is currently 18 lbs., but his foster home is hoping to get him to an ideal 20 lbs. In foster care, Ross is busy learning to navigate his house, walk on a leash, and is making progress on house-training. With some patience, and a consistent routine, he will become reliably house-trained. In addition to being handsome, Ross loves people and is happy and eager to please. He responds well to commands and craves treats and pets, making him easy to train! After getting out his initial energy in the first 5-10 minutes of walk, Ross walks nicely on a loose leash beside you. He is still learning about cars and strangers, and at times is fearful of the unknown, but as his confidence grows, this should pass. Ross is very playful with other dogs. He is an enthusiastic and rambunctious player, jumping up onto other dogs and being very mouthy. He will do best with a dog his size or larger that will appreciate rough housing with him. Ross would love a canine playmate in his forever home, but would also be fine as an only dog for an active person or someone that is home a lot. Ross is currently sleeping in his crate at night. But he is so lovable he would certainly enjoy hanging out on the couch with you or sleeping on your bed, if you so desire. Ross is a sweet easy boy and a joy to have around.
