Meet Jack

Jack came to our facility along with 5 other dogs that were brought up from Texas, and originally transported to another rescue. The rescue was not doing their diligence, so we decided to take them to make sure they got the proper health care, and attention and love that they deserve so they can thrive in their future home! Jack plays with his buddy King very well, and would appreciate having another dog in the house to help him gain some confidence. He is very shy, he will come up and sniff you, especially if you have some goodies to entice him, but he usually doesn't stick around too long. He needs some time to adjust to his new surroundings and new people, and we get that completely, so we're not pushing him. Once he realizes your not a threat, he lets you play with him, by trying to play fetch, he goes after the ball, then it's like he doesn't know what to do with it. He stares at it, then will run back to you. He is very good on a leash- very curious but not a puller and frequently stops to look at you almost like he's checking with you to see if he's doing it right- so sweet! He is approximately 7 months old, and he has missed out on a lot of his basic playfulness, training and socialization. He is very friendly, but will bark at new people, then run away if they get close. He needs a patient home, and preferably with another dog to help coax him along. This young man has a beautiful black coat, distinctive white paws, and a big white spot on his chest to match. His ears are a stand-up feature, pun intended, and if his eyes could tell you a story, they would! Having a more timid dog is nothing to be worrisome about. He just lacks socialization, and would thrive well if someone could bring him more places to get him more acclimated to a normal lifestyle! Let's give this young man a chance at a new, happy, loving life where he would thrive! Please fallout a pre adoption application on our website, and come say hi!  If you would like to meet me, please visit our website and complete the pre-adoption application.  Once it has been processed then we can make a date to get together! All dogs are spayed/neutered, heartworm tested (if over 2 years old), vaccinated, dewormed, flea and tick treated, microchipped and more before adoption. Our adoption policies include: Application, Vet Reference, Landlord approval & Criminal Background Check. We do not do same day adoptions. We request that you call for an appointment after your application has been approved to come and visit the dog of your choice. If you have a dog currently, you should bring him/her along to meet the new dog so we can see how everyone interacts.  Please visit our website for additional information. The online application can be found at :https://hsburnettcty.org/adoption-guidelines/
